Kids' Games Revival
Bringing years-old children's games back to the App Store and Google Play.
Overview
Two casual games for young children had been dormant for years. Both were modernized, fixed and published again.
Under the hood
The features that took real engineering
- 01
A rejection traced three layers deep
The App Store rejected the game for a deprecated web view. It was coming in through the old prebuilt engine, an outdated ads framework and a bundled networking library. I removed all three, rebuilt the engine from source, then scanned the final binary to prove the symbol was gone.
- 02
A whole class of bug, not one
A check on animation state silently disabled touch input in eight places once an animation finished. I fixed it everywhere and added a guard so it can't come back.
- 03
Touch that follows the animation
Wipeable props move with the character's animation, so taps are now matched to where they really are on screen.
- 04
Store compliance, again and again
Migrated to current ad SDKs and consent flows, 64-bit builds, the new billing library, and new Android memory-page requirements.
- 05
Fully bilingual for kids
Arabic and English art, more than 140 Arabic voice-over clips, and music levels balanced per language.
